Discussion

Dana Elencu (asker) Dec 2, 2011:
@Lara No, this is a fair catalogue briefly describing each exhibitor.
Lara Barnett Dec 2, 2011:
@ Asker Is this a caption underneath a photograph in a catalogue for reatil purposes?
Dana Elencu (asker) Nov 27, 2011:

retted flax

conf. Dictionar Tehnic En -Ro, Ed Tehnica, 2001

Dictionar Webster:
ret (ret) v.t. <ret-ted, ret-ting>
1. to soak, as flax, to facilitate the
removal of the fiber from the woody
tissue by partial rotting.
Peer comment(s):

Harvested flax

This could be paraphrased as:

"Hand embroidered blouse in a harvested flax linen"

I would use this term "Harvested" because it is not too specialised, but still encompasses the technical processes concerned in on a very general level.

"Women .... grew and harvested flax for linen"
http://www.womeninthebible.net/3.3.Clothing_housing.htm

"What methods were used to harvest flax in the past?"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/forteachers/linen/made/...

"The harvested flax is then left in bundles...."
http://www.google.co.uk/url?q=http://www.learningseed.com/_g...
Example sentence:

"Very sheer linen garments were made from flax harvested before reaching the bloom."

"By the 1300's, the Mandel river was vital for retting harvested flax to remove the binders and release the fibers."
