Habia pensado en "tendrá que realizar una apuesta" pero no tiene sentido con lo que sigue ni con el texto anterior ya que se supone que no se le obliga a participar...ideas? Gracias

Para mí si tiene sentido. El jugador no tiene que pagar pagar para sentarse a la mesa. Solo tiene que apostar directamente para participar.

Se suele utilizar el verbo colocar para "hacer una apuesta". Saludos.
