Coin Verification Software
"Ist der Verwender dafür geschult, mit fabrikneuen PCBs zu arbeiten, ist im Lieferumfang ein Freigabeschlüssel zur Generierung von Produktions IDs enthalten."
From an operation manual for a sort of coin verification program. I can't find a reliable translation for "Freigabeschlüssel" anywhere. Is it literally a release key or something like an activation key? TIA for your help.

release key
I think activation key is better. I tried the following combination on Google: "activation key" for production "ID generation" and got 758 of what appeared to be relevant hits (as opposed to "release key", which generated about 60).
For what it is worth.

I meant activation key, not release key (as mistakenly in the header of my message).

Definitely should have had more. Maybe Proz can change the heading?

: Activation key is correct. Never seen 'release key' used in the industry to be honest.

I asked proz whether it is possible to change the header but it is not. My apologies.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "Well although the header was wrong, the answer looks to be right and was submitted some time ahead of the other one, so it's only right to award it the points. Thank you very much indeed for your help, and thanks also to the peer graders and Michele, whose later answer further confirmed "activation key" as the way to go. Appreciate everyone's assistance."

Activation key/code
You enter the activation key for software or to access something using an authorization key also called an authorization code.

: Well, yes, but mcbaruch also offered this in an addition (note) and stated that is what he actually intended. So you are both right, but his correct answer was considerably earlier.
