A minority of Welsh people will try to ‘get one over on’ the English (i.e. put them down) at every opportunity, e.g. supporting any and every team that plays against England in the world cup, for example.
However, and I think that I speak for the majority here, many others would view this as petty nationalism and say, “Hey, we're worth more than that – that's just small-minded.” Patriotism is very different from petty nationalism.

کورکورانه, as an adjective, is used to describe a behavior stimulated by, for the most part, blind sentiments. Considering your explanation as well as the third definition Merriam-Webster dictionary gives for "petty", I think کورکورانه fits well in this context.
