German term

NN (please see context)

German to English Science Geology abbreviation
I am looking for the meaning of NN as it pertains to OWC (oil-water contact).

I know that it can mean Normal Null or is used in m NN, but please let me if it stands for something else in this context. This is taken from a graph whose other headings are drill hole, drill year, OWC (m ahd), OWC (no other information provided) and comments regarding clay content. etc.
Proposed translations (English)
3 +2 Mean Sea Level
4 Normalnull

Discussion

Coqueiro Nov 9, 2011:
Normalnull - (main) sea level height above sea level as opposed to ahd - depth // PS: mean of course ;-)

and if it is meant for values "above", the appropriate abbreviation would be AMSL = above mean sea level: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Above_mean_sea_level

neutral casper (X) : And how would you say it in English? // Really? Are we in the German -> English or the German -> German pair ?
