Greetings,
This tradition may well be found in parts of Iran as it persists in some villages in Eastern Turkey, where it is known as ‘beşik kertmesi’. While completely unknown as a tradition in Western Turkish cities, you will find it referenced in love songs:

Of course, the notch in the photo has been made professionally; cradle-notching is carried out by two fathers usually in a rough way with a penknife on the cradle of each child in order to betroth a baby boy to a baby girl. Of course, it has nothing to do with child marriage.
