Please, how would one ask one’s wife to cut open a juicy watermelon as a treat for a guest?
Something like this came up on Iran TV today – what surprised me was that I think the verb بشکاف (beshkāf) was used – is that usual for fruit of all kinds?

شکافتن is just used for هندوانه and خربزه, and I think it's because when they are completely ripe, as soon as you insert a knife into them, they often شکاف می‌خورند. But شکستن and پاره کردن are also used for these two.
