tang

The notch in the babbits (the bearing insert halves) is called a tang; this is what keeps the babbits from spinning in place or slipping sideways.

In the second reference in particular, after you get past all the spam, check the section called "Main-Bearing Clearance". Searching for 'tang' within the page will find it.

spigot

The following webref (item 17 on pages 5 & 6) gives a rather incomplete link to the French 'ergot', which is a 'spigot' in English:

IT: Chiave a naselli per ghiera fissaggio corpo interno frizione all'albero
EN: Appropriate (!!!) wrench for shaft internal clutch body retaining ring nul
FR: Clé à ergots pour l'écrou de serrage de la noix d'embrayage
DE: Nasenschlüssel fur Gewindering zur Befestigung des Kupplungsinnenkörpers an die Welle

If I'd been feeling a trifle more generous a few minutes ago, I might have mentioned that the spigot on the bearing liner fits into a recess in the block, and serves to stop the lining from rotating with the shaft. If the spigot is not correctly fitted into the recess in the seat, the lining will be mis-aligned, hence the warning given in the ST.
