French term

succession de formulation

French to English Tech/Engineering Computers: Software software package (Contrat de concession et de droit d'utilisation et de maintenance de progiciels
From the "Definitions" section of the contract:

"Edition : succession de formulation d’une même Version à la suite de corrections, d’adaptations ou d’évolutions mineures. Le numéro d’Edition est identifié dans son numéro d’ordre par le nombre à droite du point."

I suppose there should be an 's' at the end of 'formulation'...

Thanks for your help.

As you didn't find any of our answers acceptable, may I ask you what you choose as a translation?

I'm sorry, but "succession of editions" and "series of editions" make little sense to me. Not only that, but "formulation" is in the singular. How do you get a plural out of that?
MatthewLaSon Jun 15, 2011:
Hello.

Saying "succession of editions" sounds very awkward in English. Yes, "series of editions" sounds much better.

At any rate, I thought it was a follow-up (for a revised version/edition).

Best of luck!

(French) final client suggests "succession of editions of..."

maybe "series of editions of..."?

Proposed translations

follow up with a revised version

Hello,

That's how I read

succession = continuation/what comes next

formulation = creation/write-up (here a "revision)

I hope this helps.
Note from asker:
thanks, Matthew. I'm not sure about this one.

This is how I would phrase it in EN - it is part of the Configuration Management PLan

French term (edited): succession de formulation de

consecutive issue of

Succession de = successor of
Formulation = formula, formulation, wording
"Edition: formulation successor of"
but in plain American IT English one would normally say:
"Edition: consecutive issue of the same version after corrections, adjustments and minor developments"

There should be no 's' after formulation. Literally it means: succossor of the formula.
Note from asker:
thanks. I'm not sure about this one.
