Danish term

forberedelse, hovedforhandling

Danish to English Law/Patents Law (general) Code of judicial procedure
These must be legal terms and I'm not a legal expert. What do the terms 'forberedelse' and 'hovedforhandling' mean in relation to a court case? Here's the sentence:

På mødet skal retten endvidere så vidt muligt fastlægge sagens videre forløb, herunder tidsrammerne for en eventuel yderligere forberedelse. Retten skal endvidere så vidt muligt fastsætte tidspunktet for hovedforhandlingen.

Proposed translations

18 mins

trial preparations, main legal proceedings/oral hearing

Forberedelse = exchange of documents (claim, defence etc.), perhaps a preliminary court meeting
Hovedforhandling = the final court meeting
Note from asker:
Thanks Christina...I found another source which suggested 'summary proceedings' for 'hovedforhandlinger' which sounded familiar, so I think to keep it in agreement, 'preliminary proceedings' sounds good for 'forberedelser'...good to get a few suggestions to get the grey matter going. :-)
