I need something short and sweet for this. It's to show applicants the status of their applications and should be no more than 2 or 3 words. I've thought of "your application is being processed" but that's too long. Any ideas gratefully accepted!

Some support from Google results for application + status + "under consideration" at http://tinyurl.com/3zod9f8.

If "under consideration" says too much, then how about "in progress"?

Note from asker:
Apparently the handläggning pågår could mean that the university hasn't yet got round to actually looking at the application yet. Under consideration sounds like they've looked but haven't decided yes or no. |
2 hrs
(Application Received -) Processing Commenced
The first step is for the university to confirm that the application has been received in good order (also called duly received). If anything is missing from the application, the application is rejected and has to be re-submitted. The second step is the commencement of processing. You will often see "Application received - processing commenced" for visa applications and the like. In this context, I think you could use "Processing Commenced" to show that a) the application has been received, b) a first review has found it to be complete, and c) it will be processed further. If (based on your response to Charles Ek) you want to make it clear that the review has not yet begun, then you could state only "Application received" or "Application received in good order" or "Application duly received," depending on the allotted space and depending on whether or not there is a separate status message for receipt of the application.
3 hrs
in hand
Well, you did want something short and sweet and the matter (the application in this case) is 'in hand'

Don't think you can get it shorter than that!

Short enough?
