新菊花とする

Japanese to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks
Hi, I'm stuck on this phrase used in reference to a change in product specifications. I thought it might be an idiom but cannot find it anywhere. Can anyone shed some light for me? Many thanks.

Sounds as if there is a particular design. We can all make guesses but it's best to ask the client.

You need to give more context. As chrysanthemum is Japanese national flower, it could have some reference to the context.

I think this is a matter of what you want to call it. My suggestion is to use parantheses and write something like:

new-chrysanthemum shape ("shin-kikka")

Additionally, provide a note for your client explaining that you couldn't find an example of it in English.

I know "2ch" is not a great reference（笑）. But it does provide the hint that it's used to describe a type of oil filter. Possibly the shape of an oil filter"

PS: I've also seen the term "daisy-wheel" used to describe something like this, but I could not find any automotive filter example.

Spelling mistake for 新規化？

This could be a typing mistake for something like 新規化(if that's even an actual Japanese word). More context would help. Or check with the client.
