Aquí el párrafo completo:
"Iniciar, proseguir, continuar, concluir todo ***proceso judicial*** instaurado por xxx contra cualquier persona colectiva o individual sea pública o privada, tanto nacional como extranjera, así como ***contestar y/o responder*** a las iniciadas,..."
Tal vez "reply" aplique a responder, pero estoy seguro que en el caso de "contestar un proceso judicial" se refiere a otra cosa.

Thanks Ruth, "defend" covers both options I think, more general? Just nuances of meaning but could be important

Regardless of that, now you have three responses to your question and all that remains is to match up the correct English and Spanish terms without getting cross-eyed.
