button operated/controlled wind instrument Not sure whether heligonka/accordion type is referred to, or an instrument with mouthpiece. I once heard an argument during folk festival that instruments with bellows are not mreally wind ones, rather belonging to percussion group.

The earlier context shows that it is an accordion. The phrase use here is so not to repeat the word accordion. Of course instrument dęty is wind instrument, but 'button' does not really fit to it

Jerry - any pictures, or more context/references? To me, it sounds more liike a trumpet/clarinet etc. Accordion is a "bellow" instrument (dęty miechowy), whereas we might be talking about a woodwind/brasswind here.
