Discussion

Francesca Casoli Dec 8, 2010:
Yes, maybe the asker should tell us where the story is set.
James (Jim) Davis Dec 8, 2010:
No not age related I remember my first beers very well :). However, I think it is much more a country related thing. As a teenager I and my peers wanted draught beer, which you couldn'ìt get in a store, only a pub. Also drinking on the street is an offence and frowned upon. Now in Seychelles, i regularly have rounds outside a store away from the road with local friends.
Francesca Casoli Dec 8, 2010:
I just saw your link but are they cheap? Otherwise I cannot see the point of going first to the one that is always open...
Francesca Casoli Dec 8, 2010:
Well, I did! Maybe is an age-related problem? By the way, for the sake of knowledge, could you explain me exactly what a joint is? Thanks!
James (Jim) Davis Dec 8, 2010:
Round the clock bars As an Englishman, I have drunk many beers, but have never had a "round" outside a shop (not in Italy or England, at least - in Africa yes)

The Google below shows that Russia does have 24-hour bars.

Francesca Casoli Dec 8, 2010:
I can see your point but since I imagine we are talking about young people it is not uncommon to buy the first two/three beers at a shop that is open throughout the day (or simply late at night) and drink just outside the store ("a un" does not mean that you have it inside, it could simply mean you buy at) in order to save some money and at the same time to begin to "become happy", and then go to a nice pub to go on. :D
Colin Rowe Dec 8, 2010:
@Chiara I think you are probably correct - a pub/bar that is open around the clock.
Chiara Beltrami Dec 8, 2010:
Another possibility.... Maybe a pub opened 24 hours a day....not at midnight.....what do you think?

Peer comment(s):

neutral Colin Rowe : To me, "a round of beers" suggests that it is for immediate consumption on the premises. Not likely in a 24/7 store...
