Spanish term

posta

Spanish to English Law/Patents Real Estate
From a leasing contract where the boundaries of the land are described:

"...hasta la perpendicular, en sentido este oeste, que va a unirse en ángulo recto, a poniente de la línea de *postas*, con el carril de servidumbre que en sentido norte-sur va en línea recta a desembocar en el carreterín del IRYDA..."

Spanish from Spain.

The land is rural.
My research has unearthed only references to a kind of station where horses could be refreshed, or where first-aid services are offered.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your thoughts, Alayna.

It's in Castilla-La Mancha, outside of Cuenca.
Alayna Keller Sep 6, 2010:
Is it in Galicia? I ask because the Enciclopedia Larousse has an entry about "posta" being an agricultural measurement of land in Galicia. Otherwise, as unlikely as it seems, it really sounds like your document is referring to a string of horse relay stations. Which seems pretty anachronistic.

Sounds like it's referring to the road/track that links the "postas"... Former horse relay mail/postal route/track/road

postes

i think it's a typo, and "postas" should be "postes". They could just be posts, or they could be electricity or telephone poles.
