Maritime kitchen party

English to French Other Tourism & Travel Descriptif d'une excursion touristique
"By the time you reach the last pub, the true Maritime kitchen party will be under way!"

Note from asker:

The Maritime Kitchen Party is named after a well know tradition in Nova Scotia. Maritimers love to party and in every house, it always seems that the party winds up in the kitchen. There is always a guitar playing, or someone belting out traditonal songs at the top of their lungs. The MPK trio tries to bring back that feeling to their live performances.

Maritime Kitchen Party and Ultimate Lobster Supper

Wednesday, May 21, 2003, 7:00 p.m.

You’ve spent the day networking and honing your counselling skills now its time to make your way into the titanic Pier 22. Sit back at your table and experience the stirring sounds of a traditional Highland Piper leading a parade of servers entering the grand hall with platters of steaming mouth-watering lobsters held high. (For those who don’t wish to acquaint themselves with this east coast tradition there will be alternative food choices of chicken or vegetarian dishes as delicious as the lobster!)

Now, you’ve eaten your fill of our Nova Scotian delicacies so slide your chair back, loosen your belt and get ready for a traditional Maritime Kitchen Party. In days gone by, the only source of heat for many Maritime homes was the kitchen stove. So, when folks came over to meet and socialize, the party would inevitably end up in the kitchen. Even today most of our kitchens end up as the centre of our gatherings. In keeping with this time honoured tradition, we present a foot stomping and hand-clapping good time of traditional east coast music and dancing featuring Nova Scotia’s own Gordon Stobbe. With over 40 years of experience in the Maritime entertainment industry, Gordon guarantees a night of toe-tapping entertainment you won’t soon forget.

"kitchen party"

l´authentique "kitchen party"

J´ai trouvé cette définition (en anglais...):

Maritime Kitchen Party
Friends join together and share an evening of east-coast fare, ale, laughter, storytelling and music. A great pastime that has been shared amongst friends and neighbours for many years; it is centered on the idea that all of our parties normally end up in the kitchen. Drinkers and carousers crowd around a woodstove or step dance across the floor, while a few musicians sit in the corner trading songs and tunes. The kitchen party has been enshrined as an iconic image of the Maritimes.
