Context:

"Si entendemos al tango como UNA DIMENSIÓN INÉDITA de lo argentino cultural, esto es, no únicamente desde el punto de vista estético..."

I´ve seen this expression before but can´t pin down its meaning in this context. It´s the opening sentence of an academic book on tango music.

OK, sure... my apologies. I stopped the sentence there because it's the end of the clause and therefore the end of the relevant "chunk" of meaning.

The whole sentence is this:

"Si entendemos al tango como una dimensión inédita de lo argentino cultural, esto es, no únicamente desde el punto de vista estético, debemos proponer de entrada una suerte de inversión de lo que usualmente se dice. "

Wouldn't it help... ... To have the rest of the sentence? I don't quite get why you've cut off that sentence half way, given that it provides context (and I'm not one to get on people's backs about this in general, but...)

A (completely) new dimension

I think that "inédito" refers to "new" rather than unique. Something can be unique, but not necessarily new.
