Al-Jama'a (The Community, with a capital C)

My best guess is that the text is referring to Al-Jama'a (the full phrase is "Ahl Al-Sunna wa Al-Jama'a"). This is the phrase used in conservative Sunni Islamist circles to refer to the Muslim community, viewed as a block of believers constituted by their adherence to the grand tradition, exclusive of all "heterodox" factions, such as the Shi'a, Khawarij, Mu'tazila, Sufiya, etc.

The Sunni tradition has generally favored conformity for the sake of solidarity, and has abhorred theological innovation, viewing such innovation as defection from the ranks of the faithful. The term Jama'a means "Community."

It seems that a group being described in your text constituted a challenge to the Jama'a. In Islamic history, every new faction was considered as such.

Here are a couple of quotes about the topic, with links to their sources:

http://www.islam-qa.com/QA/1|Basic_Tenets_of_Faith(Aqeedah)/...

"Who are Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah?
Praise be to Allaah.
Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah are those who adhere to the Sunnah and who unite upon it, not turning to anything else, whether that be in matters of belief (‘aqeedah) or matters of actions which are subject to shar’i rulings. Hence they are called Ahl al-Sunnah because they adhere to it (the Sunnah), and they called Ahl al-Jamaa’ah because they are united (mujtami’oon) in following it.
If you examine the followers of bid’ah (innovation), you will find that they differ concerning that which they are following, with regard to beliefs, methodology and practices, which indicates that their being far removed from the Sunnah is commensurate with the extent to which they have introduced innovations."

"Righteous islamic community based on Quran and Sunnah are called Ahl Al-Sunna wa l-Jamaa Every other thoughts on islamic way of life is necessarily in error. Hence Ahl al Sunnah wal Jamaa means the community of muslims following the real islam. One must turn back to Ahl al Sunna wa l-Jamaa for the salvation of one's soul. Consequently, ones faith in islam must conform with that of Ahl Al-Sunna wa l-Jamaa. In the following links faith of Ahl Al-Sunna wa l-Jamaa is explained."

That is as much as I can fathom from the text. As Muslims say, Allahu A'lam.
