It's really the Verlustteilnahme/Verlustbeteiligung that is giving me trouble. It has been posted before here but my problem is I don't understand what is going on in the background. Would anybody care to shed some light?

This has nothing to do with futures trading. The company apparantly issued Genussscheine at some point in the past to raise capital. That capital is the Genussrechtskapital. Depending on the terms of the issue, they may have to distribute profits to the holders. (Perhaps here based on pre-tax income, I don't know).
Bottom line - a number of items resulted in negative operating earnings (risk provision > net operating loss), a net loss for the year Net operating loss minus income taxes), and negative equity after the silent partner had to cover the losses with capital contribution (Verlustbeteiligung der Einlage des s. G. )

The ....rechtskapital doesn't make sense to me, either. It seems they traded futures (which are always trades, not investments) in concert with other parties and their prorated 'Erträge' of the losses contributes to the abysmal year end results
