The translation is for a marketing campaign whereby the creative theme is based on the film industry - I need to know if 'following cues' can be translated into a number of languages. The copy essentially talks about our target audience (a businessman) being in control where people follow their commands or 'cues', yet when translated it still retains the film/theatre link.

Following cues can very well be translated as 'listening to cues' Cue is a neologism in Dutch but the target audience would prefer the term to a translation.
'Cues volgen' or 'cues opvolgen' in line with 'following cues' is not acceptable at the moment.
The term auto-cue has become quite familiar in the past years.

Toen ik meer dan twintig jaar geleden toneel speelde op de middelbare school in Amsterdam, hadden we het al over cues. Cue is niet op de eerste plaats te vertalen als (regie)aanwijzing. \'Harder\' of \'met meer gevoel\' zijn wel regieaanwijzingen maar geen cues. Een cue heeft met timing te maken. Het is het woord in de claus van je tegenspeler waarop je moet invallen.

Ik vind dat je in een reclamecampagne erg ver kunt gaan met anglicismen. In print iets terughoudendender dan in commercials ;-)
