Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): writeaway

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

obligation to consent (to)

A full sentence or more context would have been helpful.

This is a literal translation of "gedoogplicht" (Van Dale doesn't have one)
http://www.mijnwoordenboek.nl/vertalen.php

But whereas Dutch texts explain that tenant is obliged to consent to landlord entering premises.....:
"Artikel 8. Toegang tot het gehuurde, gedoogplicht
8.1 Op verzoek van De Key zal huurder door De Key aangewezen personen in de gelegenheid stellen het gehuurde te bekijken, hetzij in verband met de controle op eventuele gebreken, hetzij in verband met het uitvoeren van werkzaamheden."
http://www.dekey.nl/fileadmin/com/pdf/huurders/standaard_hc....

...in English texts you mostly see, in general, that landlord or someone is under NO obligation to consent (to this or that)...:
The landlord is under no obligation to consent to a change, whether this would ... On this issue I am in respectful and complete agreement with what Lord Rodger ... The relevance of these rental provisions is that they demonstrate that ...
www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld200102/.../ashwth-1.htm

Or see many other phrases under "obliged to consent" (google)

This issue of gedoogplicht in rental agreements is usually phrased:
"As provided by law and in our rental agreement, a landlord or manager is **entitled to access** rental units provided that reasonable advance notice is given to the tenant(s)."
http://www.getfreelegalforms.com/landlord-notice-to-enter-pr...

ofwel: "landlord has right to enter premises" instead of "tenant is obliged to consent to"

A matter of perspective maybe, but of course a correct translation requires context.

Peer comment(s):

disagree writeaway : gedoog isn't consent. imo it's preferable to stick with translating the Dutch words and not introduce different concepts, especially with legal terminology./check 'obligation to tolerate' on the www. definitely not consent. not consenting changes nothing

Gedoogplicht w/i rental context refers to access to premises, esp for inspection & maintenance. Gedogen in deze tekst is niet "tolerate" maar toestaan: allow, permit, grant (legal terminology). Tenant allows access or landlord will be granted access.

Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : it's an obligation to tolerate. There are other possibilities but without context, the bog standard dictionary translation will have to do
