Чтобы отдохнуть путёво!

Russian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
Another news title
Part of the context:

Чтобы отдохнуть путёво

Середина лета - самое время подвести итоги двух первых отпускных месяцев - мая и июня - и узнать, что ожидает норильчан, желающих отдохнуть за границей, в июле-октябре. О ситуации на туристическом рынке рассказали менеджеры нескольких норильских турфирм.

Here does the word путёво means как полагается?

Thanks in advance

"cool" what? "cool" is here and there and everywhere.Very similar to Russian "жесть"-a token for every slot-macine.

путевка Unless reading other people's comments, I would not associate it with the "travel voucher/путевка" though the word has the same root as "путево" indeed. If there is no further focus on this similarity in the article, I would just say "cool."
Alexandra Taggart Jul 9, 2009:
"on his way", not "wayly"-that is to divert and stop temperarily. The word"пуёвка" in "путёво" plays indirectly:as good as your travel documents to your dream holiday destination. So, the phrase expresses that your resting time should include everything that " promising documents"may list.
eshifrin Jul 9, 2009:
Have a vacation and do it right I think the phrase also implies "without any problems".
Ali Bayraktar (asker) Jul 8, 2009:
What about creating a new word for this? May be it would be awkward but I feel that if to create such word as "wayly" it would exactly reflect the same meaning (of путёвка) :))))))))) <br>Does anybody have information whether there is such word or is it possible to create it in such manner?
gutbuster Jul 8, 2009:
какое уж тут сходство, это однокоренные слова
только отдохнуть путёво(т.е. по путёвке) - это неординарный рекламный ход и неоценная еще глубина профессионального мышления местных туроператоров
Sergei Belay Jul 8, 2009:
игра слов Вам не кажется, что в заголовке обыгрывается сходсво "путёвка" и "путёво"?
tbilimava Jul 8, 2009:
Как полагается is a perfect paraphrase. Отдохнуть, как полагается (or especially отпраздновать как полагается) is the Russian understatement for "go all out", "give full measure". :)
gutbuster Jul 8, 2009:
нормально, без проблем и заморочек

It suits well if the article contains some tips for holiday goers, which I suppose it does. :)

to go on a decent vacation

to render the colloquial путёвый, we can say 'vacay'
Peer comment(s):

agree gutbuster : "You need to stop sayin' dat word 'vacay' instead of vacation."; "Why?"; "Mostly 'cuz I'm 'fraid little kid doesn't know what you're talkin' 'bout. And I'm 'fraid he won't learn English right."; "Can't I just tell him that vacay is short for vacation?

escape to the holiday of a lifetime

"Путёво" - "right way", "properly"; The author plays a bit here because "путёвка"(a word that comes to mind) is yor "travel documents".

neutral gutbuster : или voucher (for tourists)?

"tourist voucher" could be a dinner ticket as well as a travel. From the travel agency you get a full package:your travel documents.Everything is laft to do-to come to the airport and join your group.
