This is from a long list of quotes at the end of a text about the retail business (merchandise risk), so not a great deal of context. I've discovered that "Ich verleihe keine Fische" is a quote from Asterix (said by Unhygienix in "Asterix in Spain"), but am having trouble tracking down the English equivalent so would be grateful for any help!

: Where's the "verleihen" bit? "Refund" implies that the fish was paid for and therefore bought, not "geliehen" (which is confirmed by all of your references).

Save the sales
"Save the sales!" is Unhygienix' catchphrase in the Asterix in Spain when villagers began fighting each other with the fish he was trying to sell. The villagers took Unhygienix' fish and slapped each other around the face with it. Hence the phrase "Ich verleihe keine Fische" is Unhygienix' attempt to hold on to his sales.

Some background before you post an answer
IIRC in "Asterix in Spanien", wo Automatix bei der Abreise von Asterix und Obelix Troubardix mit einem Fisch KO schlaegt, dann den Fisch kuesst und sagt "ich bereue es nicht, dich geliehen zu haben" (in dem Band sagt Verleihnix IIRC auch "ICH VERLEIHE KEINE FISCHE", worauf seine Frau sinngemaess anmerkt "Der Fischverleih hat auch keine Zukunft, die Leute bringen die Fische in einem Zustand zurueck ..."). Das ganze mit dem "Fischverleih" fing an, als "Pepe" kein Wildschwein sondern lieber Fisch zu essen wollte. Obelix ging los, um Fisch zu kaufen, und als er wieder kam, hatte Pepe auch seine Portion Wildschwein verdrueckt. Obelix versuchte daraufhin, den Fisch an Verleihnix zurueckzugeben ...
