Discussion

Ming Gao (asker) Apr 6, 2009:
Continuing discussion I know nothing about the writer. But this is not back-translation. From some of the errors in the article I guess he/she is not a native English speaker.
chica nueva Apr 6, 2009:
Thank you, Ming Gao. Any more information on the writer? Is this a back-translation? 'your objective person' is not 'native' English, IMO. Lesley
Ming Gao (asker) Apr 5, 2009:
More Context In those events where you know the name of the prospective counter part who is the decision maker of the company, just ask for him or his extension; do not go overboard. leave aside the mentality of the “tie puchy.” The confident, decisive, polite voice will get you your objective person.
chica nueva Apr 5, 2009:
more context? nothing on Google, is this standard English or dialect or writer's own idiolect? ask at English Mono pair?
Ming Gao (asker) Apr 5, 2009:
Context full sentence goes like this:
Do not go overboard. Leave aside the mentality of "tie punchy".

I believe it is not an idiomatic expression. The translation is based on my own interpretation. When the way of your thinking has no way out, it is like a knot. Sometimes it can be "punchy".
Note from asker:
Thank you very much for the help, but can you provide a source for this answer? is it an idomatic expression in American English?
