French term

leur caractère stratégique

Non-PRO French to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s) non-profit organisation
"Les membres honorifiques sont invités à ce titre par le conseil d’administration de part leur caractère stratégique pour l’Association."

I translated it as "on the basis of how their strategic positioning can benefit the association" but the client does not like it. Somehow I don't feel good about "their strategic character"...

their strategic role for the

Hello

It just means that they play an important role for association in question.

leur caractère stratégique = their stragetic role (best to translate "caractère" by "role", imo)

strategic = important

I hope this helps.

Shouldn't it read "partager leur caratère stratégique pour l'Association"?

to share their stragetic role with the association
Note from asker:
Yes, it does - I understand what it means but the client didn't like my phrasing of it... thanks for helping out!
Thanks, it does - I had more problems with phrasing in in EN though. Will wait for feedback from client tomorrow and let you know.
