Coincido con patinba. Pensé que necesitabas otra cosa, y como el "mast-tree" existe, busqué aquella ref. Desestima mi respuesta.

For Jessica Noyes. http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madriguera
Maybe "madriguera" is also proper in this case, but as a Castilian speaker, the mental image I have of this term is of a tunnel or hollow dug in the ground. That's why I prefer "refugio" or "guarida".

Mast is the edible vegatative or reproductive part produced by woody species of plants, i.e. trees and shrubs, that wildlife species and some domestic animals consume. (Wikipedia)

agree Jessica Noyes : I like the second two, but I think an alternative for the "mast" is forrajero. I am posting a site below. To Eloy, if the den is among the roots of the trees, like foxes, chipmunks, and so on, could this be a madriguera?

Thanks Jessica! You may well be right about forrajero, because mast is a term that seems to cover more than just the fruit.
agree Eloi Castellví Alonso : I agree buuuut I think that it would be better to put "guarida" or "refugio" instead of "madriguera", because "madriguera" is a tunnel dug in the soil, not a hollow in a tree.

Thanks Eloy! The FAO glossary records "madriguera de árbol" for tree den, which in a way confirms what you are saying.
agree nahuelhuapi : Coinicido con Eloy "guarida".
