English term

trade inquiry

English to Malay Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
I started with 'carian dagangan' and ended with 'carian/pertanyaan pemborong dan pembekal'. Apakah ada istilah lain yang lebih mantap?

naim,

in the light of kaisserz saying that he thinks "siasatan" is more accurate [without saying why], i'd like to draw attention to the fine difference between how the word has been translated in these established examples of similar compound-noun terms [ref: DBP]:

- ethnoscientific enquiry = penyiasatan etnosaintifik
- credit enquiry = penyiasatan kredit

AND

- enquiry commission = suruhananjaya siasatan
- committee of enquiry = jawatankuasa siasatan

please note that when the word "enquiry/inquiry" is the principal noun, i.e. not the qualifier, "penyiasatan" is used.

otoh, when "enquiry/inquiry" is the qualifying word, then "siasatan" is used.

thank may, for the xtra tips. I sure will remember that if i need to translate a new term :)
