English term

competitive removal

English to German Bus/Financial Marketing
I have been guessing myself through a PPT full of acronyms and lack of context. Now I am stumped:

XXX is not growing according to plan (competitive removal, replacements, etc…)

Any ideas what they are trying to say with "competitive removal"

Thanks

Es könnte, da vom Markt gesprochen wird, auch das Zurückziehen von Produkten aus umkämpften Marktsegmenten mit korrespondierendem Umsatzverlust gemeint sein.

Sorry, Business Unit 2 deals with printers
margarete (asker) Dec 5, 2008:
Actually I can add that Business Unit one deals with Printers and (my guess) service for those printers. So I am wondering if the competition is taking over and replacing those printers...????? Might be completely off track here...

I wish I knew more. Uwe might be on the right track. The entire PPT is justifying cuts to the workers council. But this is still the section where it is pointed out just how bad things are with the different business units.

Here is the entire slide:

2 structural challenges
Business unit one
Growth easing out
Volatile raw material costs
Need to stream line and transform Business Unit 1 model.

Business unit 2
XXX is not growing according to plan (competitive removal, replacements, etc…)
Service margin worsened to negative 30% versus – 15% in 07
Need to adjust Service and Support resources

As you can see, lots of guess work. Any ideas

Geht es um Kostensenkungen im Personalbereich? Kündigungen mit niedrigen Abfindungen, Ersetzung von gut bezahlten durch schlecht bezahlte Mitarbeiter, sodass hier evtl. Euphemismen verwendet wurden?

It's not clear what is meant. Could you give me more context?

Verlust von Marktanteilen

...this is also a guess!

But perhaps the printers unit can not grow because it losts market shares to competitors...

I am not sure, but could it be that they lost long term clients and were "replaced"? Can you ask the client?
Note from asker:
But how would the "replacements" fit in?
