I guess that at an institution this means fire extinguishers, sprinklers, hydrants and hosereels etc. although it would also cover emergency exits, prevention and regular fire drills - so you are back to Diarmiud´s fire precautions.

Equipment is just another option that I have occasionally used.
´Beredskab´ is a very wide concept, and you might need to call it ´fire precautions and equipment´ or some other such expression in English rather than trying to find a single word.
