English term
span ring
English to Spanish
Tech/Engineering
Mechanics / Mech Engineering
In a document for a food packaging machine, in a section on part adjustment, I have a sentence:
Loosen the all hexagon socket head bolts at index side gear Spann ring (5mm).
and also
Lock the Spann ring.
I believe the spelling should actually be 'span ring'. Can someone tell me what this is called in Spanish? I don't have a picture of it.
Any help would be appreciated!

Creo que la expresión correcta es "spann" como abreviatura de "spanner".
Si así fuera, se trata de una llave de doble estría o llave estriada o llave de anillo.

It's either "span ring" or "spanner ring".
I would use "roscado" so that it cannot be mistaken for a washer.
Here's what it looks like (on the inside of the lens in the photo):

They have small indentations on the inside (or outside, if they are outer rings) so they can be removed with a special tool.
Here's the tool for span/spanner rings in English and a similar one in Spanish:

Hope that helps!

Note from asker:
I am now understanding this text a bit more to mean that this ring is on top of the index gear and held on with bolts. By removing the bolts, you can remove the ring. Does that make sense? The client also says it is a 'span' ring. |
