Deutsch term

E-Haus

Deutsch > Englisch Technik Metallurgie/Hüttenwesen/Gießerei open-die forge
From operating instructions for a forging press, under the heading of "control cabinets". Is there a standard term for this?:

Im Bereich des *E-Hauses* werden geschlossene Schaltschränke vorgesehen mit einer Tiefe von 600 und einer Höhe von 2200mm.

and

Aus Gründen der schwierigen Umweltbedingungen wird, soweit als möglich, auf eine Fremdbelüftung bzw. eine Klimatisierung der Schaltschränke oder Klemmkästen außerhalb der *E-Häuser* verzichtet.

I'm trying to get the client to elaborate on the E-Haus, Steffen. I don't currently have an image or diagram, but maybe I can get one. Thanks to you and Alison for your suggestions.

E-house

I found lots of references to E-house in relation to enclosures for switchgear. Here is one example, from Canada:

electrical installation space/room/area

I am pretty sure that your term stands for "Elektro(installations)-Haus", i.e. the space accommodating the electrical installations/controls pertaining to the plant/unit. That said, I don't know if there is an even more appropriate, "standard" English equivalent. The"geschlossene Schaltschränke" are likely to be "(electrical) enclosures" (or "control cabinets", as indicated by you). Have you got an image/diagram of the entire installation?

... perhaps "***enclosed*** electrical installation space/room/area" to reflect the "Haus" aspect.

agree David Moore (X) : I'd say "electrical switch-room" the cabinets are really rather too large for a mere "area", no?
