German term

Notenskala

German to English Medical Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs Prüfungszeugnis
At the end of the document the "Notenskala" is listed:

1 = sehr gut
2 = gut
etc.

How do you translate this?

Katja Schoone (asker) Feb 13, 2008:
@ mary austria thx. Possibly I try you again very soon with the same one, cause I'm not through yet ;-)
mary austria Feb 13, 2008:
@ Katja - No problem, don't worry about it. Zeugnisse are no problem once you get used to them. Try me again the next time you get stuck on one.
Katja Schoone (asker) Feb 13, 2008:
@ mary austria Thank you and sorry, I thought this would be clear that the "Prüfungszeugnis" not only consists of the "Notenskala" itself, but also of grades for individual achievements/examinations.
mary austria Feb 13, 2008:
Use "grades " for Notenskala and "Grades for individual examinations" for Einzelnoten and next time please tell us the whole story up front. Thanks.
Katja Schoone (asker) Feb 13, 2008:
BrigitteHilgner Feb 13, 2008:
Auf meinem alten Cambridge Certificate steht:
The pass standard is indicated thus:
Grade A (very good), Grade B (good), Grade C (pass)
Vielleicht hilft das ja.
Katja Schoone (asker) Feb 13, 2008:
It is for GB! I just need the translation of the word "Notenskala". I have a list of the equivalents according to hte European Course Credit Transfer System, so it is just the term.

The first decision a teacher must make about grading is what kind of grading system to use.

Peer comment(s):

agree Ingeborg Gowans (X) : this is what I would preferl; as"skala" refers to the whole system

Marking scheme

The University of Edinburgh refers to the marking scheme when matching grades to marks/description of performance.
