A measure of how long the various policies in a group of policies remain in force as a result of the continued payment of renewal premiums.
So basically, the persistency rate is the percentage of policies that actually stay in force until the end of the policy term because the policyholders keep making payments on them, as opposed to policyholders who allow them to lapse (by not making payments).
