German term

raumhaltig

German to English Tech/Engineering Architecture
This is somehow more than just "three-dimensional", with its implication of taking up space. Can anyone think of a succinct but fitting way of putting it in English?

The specific sentence it comes from is:
"Ihre Strukturen reichen von geometrischen Formverläufen über raumhaltige Ornamente bis zu scheinbar organisch gewachsenen Gebilden."

voluminous

sounds somewhat more poetic to me than volumetric and seems to capture the idea of the original, namely that the ornaments take up a lot of space

three dimensional

I think you're right - it's three dimensional.

... Unterschiedliche Abwicklungen würden «Poché-Räume» einschliessen und die mehrschalige Fassade plötzlich raumhaltig werden lassen.

A different course of action would include poché spaces, and would suddenly render a multilayered facade three dimensional.

Or volumetric
Critic James Wines notes, The topic of this book, 'un-volumetric architecture' is the search for creative alternatives to the overly volumetric 'shape making' obsessions of international architecture today . . .

expansive ornaments

in the sense of 'imposing', but the mentioned 'volumetric' may be most precise, if not terribly poetic
