***Mahasiddhas*** are a type of eccentric yogis or adepts important in Tantric Buddhism. They represent the mystic and unconventional which, in Tantric thinking, is often associated with the highest levels of spiritual enlightenment. They are typically contrasted with arhats, the austere saints who achieved Buddhahood but not much else. (How do arhats, who are held in such high regard by every school of Buddhism, end up the losers in the comparison? Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that arhats are about the best thing Theravada Buddhists can even imagine, which just confirms their limitations in the eyes of their rival Tantric Buddhists)....

Zong Ka Ba founds the Yellow Sect
...
At the time, the religious head of one of the branches of the White Sect, Halima, had been given the title of "Dabao Dharma King " by the Ming government, the Many-coloured Sect's Kunzesiba had been given the title of "Dacheng Dharma King", and Zong Ka Ba thought that if he could go to central government himself, he could definitely gain high honour and expand the influence of the Yellow Sect.
...
After Shijia Yeshi returned to Tibet, Zong Ka Ba had him build the Sela Monastery at Sela Hill (Gold Hill) north of Lhasa, for the enshrining and worship of the Buddha image bestowed by the Court. Shijia Yeshi continually sent people to the Court with tribute horses and maintained close relationships between the Yellow Sect and the central government. In the ninth Xuande year (1434 AD), Shijia Yeshi went to the capital once more, and the Ming Government gave him the title of "Daci Dharma King".
