: I like "seized" and somehoe think that "physical" can be dropped - in English, an establishment is an establishment is an establishment....

Thanks-I have heard the term physical establishments, but I agree that it really isn't needed, just establishments is fine here

: The "bricks and mortar" bit seems OTT and as this is about fraud it seems to be speaking not just of possession of credit cards, but the act of capturing/seizing them (you put your card in the machine and it "swallows" it)//OTT=over the top !!

Thank you, AllegroTrans - since another ID is being requested, I don't believe it is a machine. What does OTT stand for? // In several conference in which I have interpreted, the comparison is 'brick and mortar' versus virtual businesses - Mike :)

: Brick and mortar is the correct technical term for physical premises. I prefer retained by to in physical possession.

credit cards used at physical establishments
Is it: captadas en establecimientos físicos or capturadas por establecimientos físicos?
In any case, I think they are used, not kept or retained.

: I agree with you there Henry - I think 'captar' refers to 'capturing' the data contained on the card rather than the card itself, so 'used' would work better I think

Sounds better to me.

to prevent credit card fraud detected at physical establishments
I think that's the idea. Stores can only take the data that's included on the card.

credit card details taken at physical points of sale (POS)
Payment can be made physically, with physical presentation of card, or virtually, and is carried out at the POS - point of sale (or VPOS in the case of a virtual transaction). On reflection I think this gets round the bricks and mortar/building quandary...
