German term

Angebot

German to English Marketing Internet, e-Commerce Data protection

This is the first sentence of my text, which talks about the company data protection policy. I'm not sure though if Angebot in this context refers to "offer" , "line", "range" or "website content". I would appreciate any input. Thanks!

Sorry, don't know why my comment appeared twice?! Hope it doesn't happen with this one, too @Lorna: it's the same meaning for Angebot again
Lorna O'Donoghue (asker) Oct 26, 2007:
Angebot again in the text.

@ Francis: you're right, the URL itself is not an offer but the whole website is - ";www.proz.de ist ein Angebot der Firma..." is a standard term on German websites, usually used in the disclaimer or contact details.
@Jonathan: I like your 2nd suggestion
Jonathan MacKerron Oct 26, 2007:
or simply "homepage of company xxx"?
Francis Lee (X) Oct 26, 2007:
How can a URL be an Angebot? Jonathan's suggestion would make sense, at least ...
Jonathan MacKerron Oct 26, 2007:
online presence?

I've used this before - you could probably use either, or both...

sorry - the full sentence would be "This website [url] is owned and operated by"

agree Textklick : If it's good enough for http://www.harrowschool.org.uk/html/termsofuse.html then it's English.

service

.. is a service of/provided by ...

here, Angebot has the meaning of Dienst or Dienstleistung. So service might fit here. The only thing I don't like is that you have "Dienstleistungen", i.e. services, in the next sentence.

Or the other way round: The website xxx is offered by (company)...

is provided by {company name}

... would be a plausible alternative as this company PROVIDES the web content.

"service" in the second instance.
