Isn´t it literally "Separation of sediments into solid and liquid components becomes a sensible and investment-safe decision with the use of with worm-driven grit separators"?
And thus, somewhat improved, perhaps "Separating sediments into solid and liquid matter becomes a sensible and ... " but here we get into trouble with "investment-safe". So, although it is rather awkward, the best solution I can see is to focus on the decision, which is in any case probably appropriate:
"A decision to separate sediments into solid and liquid matter becomes a sensible and secure investment with the use of worm-driven grit seprators." Maybe even "Deciding to ..."
One can certainly comment that a decision becoming an investment is a strange idea, but no worse than the original, in which separation becomes a decision.

I don't feel "meaningful" is best here, because it means "being of substance " or "meaning"). "Sinnvoll" rather suggests the inherent logic of a proposition.
