English term

Earth of Legends

English to Dutch Art/Literary Poetry & Literature Title of article
Hi, I need this in Dutch if anyone would like to contribute. This is the title for the proposition of a press article. If the title is accepted then a translation of the article will be required.
Change log

Jul 25, 2007 08:57: Gerard de Noord changed "Level" from "Non-PRO" to "PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (3): Ron Willems, Miet Ooms, Gerard de Noord

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Els Spin Jul 24, 2007:
Sorry, but if the article is about France, I don't think 'Een aarde met legendes' makes any sense.
Ron Willems Jul 24, 2007:
Without context (i.e. the subject of the article) this is impossible to translate...
Els Spin Jul 24, 2007:
What is the article about?

Een aarde met legendes

One certainly needs more info re the contents of the article especially when it is a title.

planeet der legenden

Exactly translated "earth" means "aarde", but in our language normally means it only our own planet earth, so if it's for an press article it's better to use "planet". Legend you can translate also as history, but I think the article goes over something ancient and in that case you use "legenden". So it's "Planeet der legenden." Greetings from Amsterdam. (Een) wereld van legenden

Depending on the content of the article...

land van legenden

Hoogstwaarschijnlijk is 'terre de légendes' verkeerd in het Engels vertaald. 'Land of legends' zou beter zijn geweest.
