For the past five years, PATH has been involved in the development of the human monovalent vaccine by Bharat Biotech International Ltd. (BBIL). The strain was originally isolated from asymptomatic rotavirus-infected infants, and contains natural gene reassortants.

1998年和1999年,郭元吉与地方疾控机构合作,先后两次从流感样患者中分离到6株H9N2流感病毒。进一步研究发现,所分离毒株属H9N2亚型毒株,其可能性最大来源于鸡的H9N2病毒。并同时发现,A/广州/333/99(H9N2)病毒是H9N2病毒G9和G1基因系毒株的基因重配子,它的 PB2、PB1、PA和M基因节段来自G1毒株基因系,而HA、NA、NP和NS基因节段来自G9毒株基因系。从而表明,H9N2禽流感病毒能够直接感染人,其基因重配子也能够直接感染人。此研究还发现,在我国内地禽类中,至少同时流行着两系(G9和G1)抗原性和基因特性不同的H9N2流感毒株,并发现了对鸡具有高致病性的H9N2流感毒株,进而提出了鸡在流感病毒大流行株起源中的作用不亚于鸭的见解。正是由于郭元吉等人的这一发现,禽流感被认可为一种新发传染病,同时为国际反生物恐怖提供了新内容。

By the way, this wasn't a written translation assignment, I was preparing for a 2-day simultaneous interpretation assignment, but I also accept written translation assignment from time to time to keep a balance of mind.
