As I understand it, Sinitsyn's approach is not based on, say, whether arrowheads have wear marks consistent with arrowheads or whether belts show evidence of knawing consistent with hungry people knawing on them, etc., but instead it is based on whether they show certain marks or evidence of knawing, etc., regardless of what they are. Basically what you said.
