I'm having trouble with this phrase (the part between the asterisks)...

This is what I have so far, but I'm not super confident about it:
Upon receiving information from a third party entity and due to the cover up of this dispute(???) on the part of the defendant, there is due reason to ....
What do all of you think...is 'due reason' okay here?
