English term

terrestrial fiber

English to German Tech/Engineering Telecom(munications)
XXX's AAA technology is similar to **terrestrial fiber** in terms of speed and reliability. AAA has a substantial advantage over **terrestrial fiber** because AAA can be deployed in a day and costs less to deploy than **terrestrial fiber**. **Terrestrial fiber** can take months to deploy and also require significant regulatory and environmental approvals prior to installation.

Glasfaserverbindungen {irdisch, terrestrisch}

Personally, I think the author was paid by the word. As fiber links must, at least at this time, be terrestrial, I think you probably could leave it off.

If they are talking about radio links, then they may wish to differentiate between those that make use of satellites and those that do not, but with fiber links, they are all pretty much terrestrial.

My opinion from the USA.

agree John Jory : Glass fiber is also used in marine cables :-)

but I would still consider undersea fiber as terrestrial.
agree Gert Sass (M.A.) : "(bodennah verlegte) Glasfaserverbindungen". I'd really like to know what's special about AAA.

Kaberverbindungen
