sp (lower case "s" followed by "p" written as a subscript)

Please let me know how you read this out in English. It appears in a formula. It goes "sp is a sub-sequential pattern of s"....
p is written as a subscript.

If you mean how to pronounce this in English: if the audience knows what you're talking about, you can just use 's p' (as they'll know p is the subscript), but to avoid confusion you'd say 's sub p'.
