Does it need an accent?

In an English text, does 'Meknès-Tafilalet' (moroccan region) need the accent grave?

Jennifer Gal (asker) Jun 26, 2006: Thanks Nesrin Internet search shows that the UN calls it either Meknas or Meknès, but Wikipedia calls is Meknes. But there are hardly any hits overall for Meknas. Concensus is lacking. I think I'll go w/ Meknas, bec. it's a UN-related doc. Thanks for your help!

Nesrin Jun 26, 2006: This is the established French spelling of the name (which has been adopted in the English text), hence the accent. The English spelling, I suppose, would be Meknas. The accent has nothing to do with the Arabic spelling.
