German term

hydraulische Weiche

German to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng commercial water heaters
According to the New German - English dictionary it is hydraulic track switch, however it cannot be applied to water heaters. I don't need the translation of the following paragraph but it will be useful to understand what the hydraulische Weche does.
Hydraulische Weiche
Eine hydraulische Weiche ist erforderlich,
wenn die maximal zulässige Durchflussmenge
durch den Brennwertkessel
geringer ist als die Umlaufmenge im
Heizkreis. Dies kann z. B. bei Wandgeräten
in Kombination mit Fußbodenheizungen
der Fall sein. Dann muss der
Hydraulische Einbindung von
Brennwertkesseln
größere Heizkreis-Volumenstrom gegenüber
dem Kesselkreis-Volumenstrom
über die hydraulische Weiche
ausgeglichen werden.

hydraulic bypass

As the entire flow exceeds the throughput limit of the heater loop, it hat to be split. The solution is a parallel loop or bypass.

Sorry, this is a guess. Try googling it and see if it fits.

Diverter valve

...is what we call it in English.

Where water heating systems are concerned, we do not use the word "hydraulic" although technically this would be correct (Hydra=water).

In English the use of the word "hydraulic" is mostly used to refer to high pressure motive power systems using oil as the medium (in industrial situations). Nothing to do with heating at all.

As it's known and obvious what medium is being diverted, English more often than not just leaves it (water) out.
