Hungarian term or phrase: szemelynevek, utcak, stb. (hogyan fordítani)
When copying Hungarian personal and place names from Hungarian documents onto the English translations, do you still use the accents? Is the accent an integral part of the name no matter what language it's in (e.g. Enikő /Eniko)? Also, when "translating" addresses, 1.) do you keep or drop the accents; 2.) do you switch the address parts around to correspond to the target system (e.g. Lidia utca 10, 1025 Budapest>10 Lidia Street, Budapest, Hungary, 1025).

To me, it's perfectly comprehensible both ways. I just want to get this right for my client.

agree  juvera: I wouldn't dream of writing a name without the accents, unless, as you say, it is technically impossible. Why should Mr Török be called Torok, or the river Kőrös as Koros? Yes, it is an integral part of the name.

agree  Erika Pavelka (X): Absolutely! I think it goes for any language that uses accents. As for the streets, it's a tougher call. I would probably leave it as is. Not sure a letter addressed to Lidia Street would arrive...

Explanation:
I always use the accents and have had no complaints yet. The advantage is that if the client tries to contact the address - the street name is correct.
Regarding the second part: I rearrange the address to the target languge and if I feel that an explanation is in order, I give it.
In your example, (Lidia utca 10, 1025 Budapest>10 Lidia Street, Budapest, Hungary, 1025) I would give the "translated" version. Otherwise, the client does not know what is the street, what is the city, etc.

neutral  juvera: Indeed, the best way to write an address is to do it both ways, but in the Hungarian version it should be: TOWN FIRST, then the name of the street, then the house number. This way the letter can be sent to the address the postmen would understand as well.
