English term

underweight to momentum and volatility

English Bus/Financial Investment / Securities fund reports
Risk factors had a positive impact on performance. The portfolio’s ***underweight to momentum and volatility*** were two of the largest contributing risk factors.

????

Thanks!!

lower exposure to market momentum and volatility, compared to the benchmark

I would need more details on how they measure the risk contribution of the various risk factors (and on how these factors are defined); my best guess is that the portfolio had a lower exposure to volatility, for example, than the benchmark.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you, Ralf. Your explanation has been confirmed by other professionals financial translators. To Mwananchi: "underweight" tipically refers to a relative exposure, i.e. relative to a benchmark."

Not prone to market movement or wide variations.

Not easily affected by mood on the market. The prices also tend to be steady.
