Dutch to English Other Botany Pruning plants
Omdat rozemarijn in het voorjaar bloeit, knip je de bloei eruit als je snoeit als bij lavendel. Daarom kun je er ook voor kiezen om de vormsnoei in het voorjaar slechts ***om het jaar*** toe te passen, zodat je het andere jaar van de bloemen kunt genieten.

I'm not absolutely sure what the author means with 'om het jaar'. If anyone can explain it to me I would be most grateful.

It means once every two years, i.e. every other year (see Hirselina's response). A pitfall in this regard could be ' biannually', which means twice a year.
